Sister Act

It is not often that you get sisters who are beautiful, best friends and talented, but sometimes the planets align and the impossible happens. The Miller sisters (Sienna and Savannah) and the Olsen twins (Mary-Kate and Ashley) are just such an example. Undeniably all incredibly attractive, with perhaps questionable acting skills, these girls have one thing in common-fashion.

If you examined these four ladies purely in terms of style you would have some amazing wardrobes to raid. The Miller sisters are both renowned for spearheading the Bohemian chic look, whereas the Olsen twins combined have a mix of daytime grunge and evening glamour. But what separates these ladies from the rest of the beautiful fashion elite is their personally designed fashion lines-successful ones too.

Sienna and Savannah's joint effort on their label Twenty8Twelve is without a doubt a reflection of their own aesthetic- bohemian yet quirky, unusual yet wearable- featuring rich autumnal colour hues and a range of textures from velvet and jersey to denim. The Twenty8Twelve collection is small but definitely likeable, although you can understand the recent critiques the Miller sisters have been subjected to for the simplicity of design, cut and overall style. The clothes, to be brutally honest, are nothing special and would not look out of place in Urban Outfitters or other high-street stores. But this is not necessarily a negative point of the collection. I would personally wear almost all of their looks and that, to me, is a sign of success; particularly in the current climate of post-recession when we want to spend money on clothes that are wearable. That is another plus point of Twenty8Twelve-the clothes may not be intricately designed and produced but this means that the price points are much lower. Wearable AND affordable.
My pick of the top looks:

The Olsen twins' high end line The Row (in contrast to their other line Elizabeth and James) has a much more refined and classic aesthetic. The collection is stripped down, minimal, modern and extraordinarily sophisticated considering that Mary-Kate and Ashley are only 23. The clean lines and sharp tailoring are evidence of the twins' interest in modern art and architecture-a reference which is also made in the colour scheme which is kept to stark rich hues of black and dark navy with one crisp, cream look. The clothes may not be completely to my taste with the sparse accessorizing and plain styling but I can appreciate the precision of the designs and the meticulous quality of production. I think several of the individual pieces, in particular the loose silk trouser and boyfriend style blazer, would be fabulous parts of a more fresh and casually styled wardrobe.
