When I said I had an obsession with black ankle boots I think it was an underestimation. I have an obsession with black footwear of all kinds! There is something about a sharp black shoe that just screams chic sophistication and subtle sexiness. Plus, as always with black, it just goes with everything- so you get your moneys worth.
At the moment I have been enjoying the trend for traditionally 'masculine' footwear on women- Sienna, Kate, Lindsay Lohan (eek!) and of course Alexa have all been working this trend, showing you how versatile it can be. Brogues and loafers can be worn with skinny jeans, cropped black or cream tapered trousers (ending just above the ankle- a la Audrey Hepburn in 'Funny Face') or with floaty skirts and dresses. The key thing here is to wear with tight and tapered trousers or loose fitting skirts and dresses, NOT the other way round (as in with baggy trousers or body-con skirts/dresses- it just looks oddly disproportionate)
SO, here are my lovely brogues- they are from Topshop and also come in a variety of colours. Olivia Palermo was snapped a while ago wearing a metallic silver pair which added a modern twist to an otherwise conservative outfit.
These are my loafers- patent from Russell and Bromley. Super super comfy!! They also come in brown and plum, and in matte leather.
These ankle boots are a recent purchase and I am SSOO in love with them!! They are from the ASOS Black collection and were a little pricey, just below £100, but they combine 5 trends in one: black, studded, lace detail, peep-toe, platform. Shockingly high but because of the front platform they are surprisingly easy to wear.
Once the weather warms up a bit and gets dry I shall venture outside in these beauties and post pictures of them styled with some outfits!
